BY: STEPHANIE STEVENS JP & Javs is the duo that is JUST ART DEAD. Two talented producers and composers from Houston, TX. Capturing visually emotional human artwork to compell you into the world of this bands ambiance of metal, electronic, cinematic artpieces of sound. With the bands up n coming third album A SENSE OF IMPENDING DOOM coming out Oct 16, 2020 and the overwelming response of the lead off single RECURRENCE. The band is ready to release another piece of the next chapter to you with the follow up singles SURGE & BURDEN out Aug 28th on all streaming platforms. I had a chance to ask both creators of this unique band a few questions about the art they call music and who empowers them. Get to know JUST ART DEAD 🎼 Q: How did u become a musician and what is ur instrument of choice? JP: I started banging on pots and pans at the age of 9. For Christmas '89, my parents got me my first drum set and I never looked back! My brother was constantly playing The Beatles, Elvis and The Rolling Stones, and that's how I got started with my love for music. A few years later, I started learning electric guitar, then the bass, keyboards, until eventually expanding to music production, film scoring, and audio engineering school. My instrument of choice is drums. Javs: Music has always been a part of my life. The soundtrack of my childhood consisted of Classical Music, from my mother’s side, and Rock and Roll from my father’s side. So, being drawn into musical instruments was obvious and normal for me. I learned how to play drums first, then moved to bass guitar, then guitar and finally a bit of piano, but the guitar is my instrument of choice. 🎼 Q: Tell us about your band and how being in a band has helped you gain confidence? A: Although Javs and I have been in bands since 1993, many years went by until we got together again and created Just Art Dead. We don’t consider ourselves to be a band, but rather music creators who can navigate various dark experimental metal genres without adhering to any one of them. Film/cinematic elements are a big part of our sound as they convey a different but complementary range of emotions and have become intrinsic with everything we make. Developing our own sound and not seeking approval has helped us gain a level of confidence and self-acceptance that most of us strive to find for years and years. Having the freedom to create our own music without boundaries and imprint our emotions onto our art has been the biggest boost to our individual and creative confidence. 🎼 Q: What style of music does ur band play? Why did u choose this genre and ur biggest influence? A: Short answer, we play metal. Long answer: Art is Art, so it is the responsibility of curators and the people who get exposed to it to classify them as they wish and see fit. Sometimes it is based on a period of time, a strong characteristic, a tangible or intangible feature, etc. They are the ones who inevitably have the right to place your specific form of expression in their right Folder or Museum. We have too many influences to list and, while we both grew up with the core of "Classic Rock", we took different musical avenues to develop individually as musicians and eventually craft the JAD sound. Currently, we compose metal albums and music for film so our range of expression is very broad. 🎼 Q: How can people support ur band and any new news on ur band u want to share or ur music journey on a personal level? A: The best way to support any artist is to spread the word and follow us on our main social media platform, Instagram @justartdead Big news is that our third full-length album (A Sense of Impending Doom) is coming out on October 16th and that is our main creative focus at the moment. The album's lead single Recurrence hit Spotify's editorial playlist "Death Metal & Beyond" in late June and follow up singles Surge and Burden are out as of August 28th. To support us directly, our discography is available at: https://justartdead.bandcamp.com/ Our website is www.justartdead.com 🎼 Q: What is the most important thing about music/art that can help people in your opinion? A: The most important thing about Art is the purest expression of what being human is, that always strides to open up minds and reflect on existentialism creatively laying down what the senses experience from the world with a non conventional prism. 🎼 Q: What do you hope people will remember most about ur art/music? A: That our music made them feel something, helped them get through a tough time, and was always honest and unapologetic. 🎼 Q: If you could give people struggling with finding a passion they love to do, what advice would you tell them? Javs: It’s never too late. Know yourself. Dig inside your mind. Alone. Only listen to your own voice and shut off the outside ones. JP: find something you love and give it your all. Learn constantly, practice and be humble. Embrace every small achievements, those who believe in you, and never look back. 🎼 Q: Empower another artist by telling us someone u admire and why you admire them? A: Beethoven. The cruelest thing you can do to a musician is to make them deaf, and even though sadly that was his case, he still managed to write the 9th and give Humankind its Planetary Anthem while only being able to listen to it in his own head and not through an auditory performance.

BY: Stephanie Stevens Vulnerability such a passionate word, TAYLOR COLSON entrances you with so much of it on her debut single release for HURT ME that you feel everything she is releasing. A song co-written by early Halsey collaborator Dylan Jackson Scott, they have brought out pure emotion of pain and longing that feels so real you automatically bleed with her and believe her ache. She takes you on a vocal adventure with all the alluring tones, its beauty and emotional. Combine that with a very delicate and empowering video, that she did solely on her own. This girl has some pure raw talent. TAYLOR is no newbie to the performing game and she has gained a substantial fan base from the social networks, especially on Youtube. In 2020 she is ready to release more of her beauty to the world and HURT ME is a truly great start. I had a chance to speak with Taylor about her start at a young age, her tour in Europe in 2019 and what what is in the future for this amazing artist. 🎼 Q: Your story is so inspiring. Did you choose at a young age to get into acting or do you have a family member that helped you with that and how did you know at a young age this was something you needed in your life? A: Thank you so much! When I was young I was very shy so my mom put me in an acting class in hopes that it would help me to open up more. During the classes is when I fell in love with performing. Looking back, I'm singing in almost all of my home videos from such a young age! I guess it always came natural to me. 🎼 Q: You have a musical theater background - did that help you build your vocal capacity and learning to take care of your voice, singing night after night? A: Definitely. I started vocal training around age 5 and really had to learn how to sing properly to not hurt my voice. Being classically trained has helped me figure out my sound and allowed me to incorporate a theatrical feel to all my music, which is very important to me! 🎼 Q: ‘Hurt Me’ is your debut single with a very emotionally geared lyrical journey. What do you hope people take away, after listening to this song? A: I think we’ve all had a time in our lives where we’ve experienced guilt in some sort of capacity. It could be in a relationship, something to do with family, really anything. I’m hoping that people listening will tell me that they’ve felt the same way as me and know that it’s okay to have those feelings. 🎼 Q: What do you love the most about collaborating with the team you have as far as songwriting? How do they push you to be better? A: I’m so incredibly grateful to have the team that I have. Not only are they all so incredibly talented, but they are the most humble, genuine, and just all around amazing people that truly feel like family to me. I won’t ever settle. I always want to push myself, and want the people around me to push me to be the best version of myself that I can be. My team does just that. I don’t like “yes” people. I need the people that I surround myself with to tell me the truth and help me be better every single day. How do you grow without that? 🎼 Q: The ‘Hurt Me’ video was shot solely by you. Was it harder being the director and performer, rather than have a crew? Do you hope to make more of these in the future? A: It was a new and interesting experience for me since I had never shot a music video before. I had a great time doing it and was pleasantly surprised at how vulnerable I was able to be since I was the only one in the room. Usually you have a lot of people around you while you’re shooting, so I thought it was a great learning experience for me to do it alone. I’ll be able to go into future video shoots with a whole new perspective. 🎼 Q: Do you have other songs finished, and will you be releasing an EP in the not too distant future? If so – are the songs similar in sound, or more diversified musically? A: I’ve been working on a lot of new music and am focusing on releasing singles for right now. All the songs tap into a different part of my voice and who I am, which I think is really cool. I’m very excited to start releasing my music into the world! 🎼 In 2019 you toured in Europe. How was that experience? Were the crowds different from what you’ve experienced in the US? A: It was my first time going to Europe and it was even more magical than I hoped it would be. It was absolutely beautiful as were all the people. The crowds were really amazing and showed a lot of love. Really, really amazing place and I can’t wait to go back! 🎼 What is the most important thing about music/art that can help people in your opinion? A: We all need something to believe in and music helps people believe in something. That’s fucking special. 🎼 Q: Empower another artist by telling us about someone you admire and why you admire them. A: My parents. They are actual superheroes. They have been supportive of my crazy dreams since day one and have never doubted me for one second. They’ve showed me what hard work can do and have always pushed me to reach my full potential. They really shaped the person I am today and I just love them so much! 🎼 Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/album/id/1524190073 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/1fysuhfgBPoA9I3G7S9N1E?si=-MBjLvuZR5-2wNvx2omiuA Instagram: @itstaylorcolson Facebook: @itstaylorcolson Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/taylorcolson1 Twitter: https://twitter.com/itstaylorcolson Tik Tok: @itstaylorcolson Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Hurt-Me-Explicit-Taylor-Colson/dp/B08D8Q33XM/ Pandora: https://www.pandora.com/artist/taylor-colson/hurt-me-single-explicit/ALdP7X2p9gv36r9 Tidal: https://listen.tidal.com/album/149271646 Deezer: https://www.deezer.com/us/album/161855682 iHeartradio: https://www.iheart.com/artist/taylor-colson-956248/albums/hurt-me-107330073/ Youtube Music: https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kzWDKugVm4MLK_-2zUobDBwHY219elXJY Bands In Town: https://www.bandsintown.com/a/5361903-taylor-colson On the video, which was premiered by Rolling Stone, the band said: “This video ties all the ideas from the record together. Distorted views, unclear agendas, the masses following along and a sense of unsettling tension. All accompanied by a mixture of emotions, moods and lights. ‘The Talk’ was a lot of fun to shoot and quite a strange experience! The pandemic has changed a lot all over the world, and here in Ohio the laws are very strict on social distancing. When it was time to start planning a video, we knew a lot of work and research had to be done to ensure the video came out exactly how we envisioned it and that all of the guidelines were met. Temperature on arrival, masks, social distancing, the whole 9-yards. Kinda hard to read the cameraman’s face when you can’t see it! The craziest part was the director was monitoring on a zoom call from a different state! Everyone did such an awesome job and were so professional about it, it ended being an awesome experience. I’m interested to see what the world looks like when it opens back up again.”
Flaunting towering vocals and wild guitar solos the quartet challenge rock ‘n’ roll to its very core with a timeless approach and 21st century swagger. They preceded the EP with the single “Dancing With Fire.” The song already captured top spots at Spotify’s New Noise, Apple’s Breaking Rock, and Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Rock & Fresh Rock playlists and received critical acclaim from Loudwire, Louder, Guitar World and more. The official music video shows the band in their element on the road and showcases their unparalleled performance ability. By: Stephanie Stevens ZERO THEOREM is setting the rock community a blaze with their blend of hard rock/metal songwriting and encompassing the futuristic animation visual aspects to the music to let fans have a full on sensation to what the band is all about. SWARM the bands newest creation defines both aspects to a tee! The song mocks the overly self-indulgent, who chooses lives of carefree superficiality. The track in no way bleeds negativity but the band wants you to think about facing challenges with realistic and constructive attitudes. I love how this band also always tries to enlighten and push people into positive positions while slaying the game with an amazing metal soundscape; and that is truly what SWARM does. A perfect expression of emotional value to go with the year that 2020! ZERO THEOREM has been building a cult following since 2018 when they released the EP, ATARAXIS, which gave us the brilliance of singles BECOMING and AREA, both receiving rave placements on major streaming services. In 2019 THE KILLING EP was given to the fans and produced the mighty single and video for YOU. Now, Caesar-vocals, Roy Lev-Ari- guitar, Max Georgiev- guitar, Eloy Palacios-bass and Jake Hayden-drums are set to unleash the 2nd installment THE KILLING II, EP and if the sounds of it are anything like SWARM we are in for big things! I had a chance to speak with frontman. Caesar about the connection of both EPs, how important a visual aspect is to the bands music and what he hopes people remember about the bands music. 🎼 Q: During 2020 seems you have been busy writing for THE KILLING II EP coming out later this year. How easy was it to find inspiration to write for you guys and was anything difficult about the process? A: The EP was completed along with THE KILLING I before 2020 began. One of the major themes throughout the entirety of THE KILLING recordings is that suffering is inherent to life itself. Much of what was written and produced before resonates even more in 2020. 🎼 Q: The newest track ‘SWARM’ relates to feelings of rage and loss of self control. During these days it seems a brilliant song to release. In your own words how would you tell fans to deal with these feelings? A:That is an interesting take and certainly valid. For us, “Swarm” highlights the struggle between authenticity and blissful ignorance. Regardless of the struggle, our advice is to try one's best to adopt a realistic and constructive approach. 🎼 Q: THE KILLING I’ EP came out earlier this year. How do the two EPs connect and what defines the element of divide to make them there own identities? A: THE KILLING was originally conceived as a complete album, and the songs from both EPs share a thematic bond as mentioned above. The separation of the two was a natural progression with THE KILLING I being more familiar to the debut ATARAXIS EP and THE KILLING II further exploring newer possibilities for the band. 🎼 Q: One thing I love about the band is how on the forefront you are with visually conceptualizing songs with videos. How do you think this changes the depth and character of the song? A: Thank you! We appreciate that! We've always wanted the project to be a multi-media experience, and we continue to make plans for live performances, audio, and video to connect together in an interesting and engaging way. Watching the video for "Swarm" can definitely add layers to the experience of the song, although we encourage viewers to draw their own conclusions. In the future, the hope is to expand the Zero Theorem universe to the point where the songs and videos can stand on their own while also being part of a larger story. 🎼 Q: Are you as a band as involved in the visual part as you are in the songwriting and what defines for you the art director/video director that you want to work with? A: We are involved in the process with every video. Depending on the song and situation, directors will require more or less input from the band. We enjoy bringing our ideas to the table and working with others to produce something visually engaging. The best scenario is to find a director that seems to intuitively understand the ZT vibe and what we are trying to convey with an idea. It's also important for a director to speak openly about what can be accomplished. 🎼 Q: What is the most important thing about music/art that can help people in your opinion? A: That's tough to answer definitively, since we believe art can have a multitude of positive effects. More generally speaking, great music or art provides a spark of inspiration. It can provide a catalyst for change that might not have occurred otherwise. 🎼 Q: What do you hope people will remember most about your art and music? A: First, we hope enough people are able to experience it and help the journey continue, since it feels like we're just getting started! Having said that, the work is meant to be a source of entertainment, catharsis, and camaraderie. We hope people remember ZT as a band that produced emotionally charged music with a thoughtful and creative spin. 🎼 Q: If you could give people struggling with finding a passion they love to do, what advice would you tell them? A: Take notice of what your priorities are or what you feel they should be. Sometimes people struggle with inspiration because they aren't sufficiently healthy or haven't grappled with underlying issues. Also, try new experiences and be willing to study or practice new skills in order to improve at them. Lastly, don't give up. Seek support and encouragement from others and keep exploring what life may have to offer. 🎼 Q: Empower another artist by telling us about someone you admire and why you admire them? A: Trent Rezor is admired by many, and our guess is that he isn't lacking in empowerment, but we certainly receive a great deal of inspiration from him. He seems to exude authenticity and has produced numerous artistic projects, including movie and television scores, that continue to be influential. 🎼 Connect with Zero Theorem: Smart URL: https://found.ee/DDcJ Official Website: http://www.zerotheoremband.com facebook: @zerotheoremband Instagram: @zerotheoremband |
