BY: Carl Stawk

Carl Stawk: Looking at the music scene right now where do you see yourselves in it?

Shawn Perry: I only play guitar guitar hero in wold domination mode.....

Carl Stawk: Do you still reach back, way back into the influences that you have followed over the years and apply them to your style today?
Shawn Perry: 💯 I actually have what would Prince do written in one of my guitars....I have always worn my influences on my sleeve, I am more that happy to make songs that blatant homage to my heroes ...I also name drop them whenever possible, zero shame.

Carl Stawk: How do you decide to package who you are? Does it change with each project?
Shawn Perry: Shoot: It can change from song to song, and that is by design....I am always the same at the core ....the same cake with different icing. I look at it like iron Man...same die in the armor, but the armor changes to fit each situation and is constantly evolving

Carl Stawk: How much technical training or even classical training have you had?
Shawn Perry: too much, I took ten years of private guitar lessons prior to going to college for music. My teacher was great and we touched on every style and technique you could imagine. After that, I went to college for music theory and education but changed to focus on music production, music technology and psychoacoustics.

Carl Stawk: Break down the song's lyrics for us in "Lawnchair" where did the inspiration come from?

Shawn Perry: well I think the lyrics are pretty self-explanatory, I need a couple of weeks on a beach before I go full dark Knight and start dressing in black Kevlar, and stalking Gotham's criminals just to let off steam.

Carl Stawk: In many ways, a man's lawnchair is likened to his lazy-boy recliner, isn't it?
Shawn Perry: it is and my sister in law recently gave me a gray leather lazy boy. It was a game changer.

Carl Stawk: Isn't that a wrestler in your video?
Shawn Perry: Yes! That is former WWE wrestler Chris Kole, we beat the hell out of each other on the regular.

Carl Stawk: Do you feel that the music video conveyed the personality of how you really feel? I mean you can tell us... LOL
Shawn Perry: almost I tried to get a speed boat, an albino alligator and a white Ferrari Testarossa, but we ran out of time

Carl Stawk: How does songwriting work for you? Is there a go-to place for you to write? Do you set aside time on a weekly basis just to focus?
Shawn Perry: not really, I write most of my stuff on my couch or in this shower like a total weirdo, I don't have a set time ....I'll go months without writing something, and they write three songs in a weekend, I let the muses strike when they strike forcing songs is how we end up with Nickleback-

Carl Stawk: Tell us what you would like to develop on your own personal musical level for the rest of this year?
Shawn Perry: I would be able to cut back on teaching and spend more time playing shows and just shredding in the woodshed.

Carl Stawk: Give us who you think is the greatest Bad Ass rockstar and why?

Shawn Perry: Prince, why? Because Prince, that's why :) ....I mean not even Freddie Mercury could get away with wearing assless chaps on the MTV awards....Prince did.
