Wayland, a band named after the city they hail from in South West Michigan made their way to the newly renovated and quaint Rochaus in West Dundee, IL on a balmy friday night in support of the 2017 album Rinse and Repeat. Openers Stone Senate and locals Wolves at Hour 30 were perfect musical lead ins for the crowd as they anticipated the emergence of Wayland to the massive stage.
Wayland emerges to the stage to take their place before rocking out the joint. The foursome that makes up Wayland includes vocalist Mitch Arnold who looks like he is having a blast on stage as he has an ear to ear grin and plays to the crowd like the best front men do. Phillip Vilenski with his curly locks stands off to Arnold’s right through most of the show and shreds it on guitar while lending his vocals throughout the set. The grizzled looking Dean Pizzazz rocks out on the bass just to the left of Arnold and he also has an ear to ear grin as he is rocking all night on the bass guitar. Drummer Nigel Dupree sits back on his drums and plays it up to the crowd showing an intense persona while smashing through each song and engaging the crowd. The boys brought it to their fans they call “Warriors” with hits “Ghost”, “Through The Fire”, “Reno” as well as “Welcome To My Head”. Wayland looks like they just enjoy playing live shows, engaging the fans, smiling and bantering back and forth with each other and giving their “Warriors” exactly what they want. Check out Wayland as they are on tour for most of early 2018 and they will be on the Rockfest festival July 12-14 if you plan on getting out that way. Facebook- @Waylandtheband
