KILL THE MACHINE is the follow up to the EP SURFACES by the hard rock band PSYCLE. The band is from Providence, RI and have been on the scene since 2016. The group is no stranger of making melodic driving rock music as band members, Seth Salois-vocals/guitarist, Jay Spyne-drummer, Mike Kaz-bass/vocals and Joe Nicolazzo grab elements of their biggest influences and combine that with the true commitment they have for making music. What I know from PSYCLE is they love to move music lovers with hooky choruses and driving guitar riffs. Once you get a taste of the music, it stays embedded in your memory. The guys took a good chunk of time to write for this new album KILL THE MACHINE and to be totally honest I have never heard a bigger growth in a band then I did when I took this album for a spin. Musically these guys set a fire to guitar solos, they catch you with these memorizing hooks and the vocals are like night and day, a pure embracement of depth and maturity in the nature of vocal capability. KILL THE MACHINE (the song) rips right into a riff of melody and reminded me a bit of a Nickelback vibe but put more of a ballsy sound to it and you have the PSYCLE upbeat rocking style. THE OUTSIDER attracted me for the mere fact the guitar playing is like a shining bright moment, took me back to the Kenny Wayne Shepard days. The sultry rocking verses and the driving melody driven chorus just makes the track a standout for sure. KING WITHOUT A THRONE has a darker hard rock drive, love the drumming aspects of the track and the low-end dirty feel. What makes the track even more enhanced and appreciated is this searing and sultry vocal tone. I keep bringing up the vocal department but I truly appreciate the depth and journey they took, especially with this song. It completely draws you in. Every song has some sort of memorable moment in it but the guys left the absolute gem of a song till the end with WHITE FLAG, I spoke about growth in the band and this song pretty much showcases it all in one flawless moment. The guys didn’t do any crazy tricks to make the song stand out per say but the driving, penetrating elements of gritty rock, simple quieter moments and the appeal of straight forward rock n roll make this song something I think will drive the band to more success then they know what to do with. Overall KILL THE MACHINE brings out the best of every member of PSYCLE and if you have a passion for bands like Alter Bridge, Sevendust and old school Black Sabbath you might find a gem in PSYCLE. instagram: @psyclemusic Facebook: @psycle https://www.psyclemusic.com/ DED-MANNEQUIN EYES EP By: Stephanie Stevens In 2017 the Phoenix area band DED made the rock/metal scene come alive again with the bands debut album Mis•an•thrope. The album produced a multitude of singles and was just a solid all out aggressive and appealing album to the masses. The band were road warriors and left nothing but amazing memories and sweat and sometimes blood on stages across the states and overseas. The fans and the music community in general along with this girl has been waiting patiently for new music and finally it dropped this past Thursday March 12th, 2020. A two song EP entitled MANNEQUIN EYES to wet the palettes of fans worldwide and let me tell you these guys did not disappoint. Right off the bat what came to mind to me was how insanely they have grown musically and sound wise. On the debut album although to me was a solid 10 it was more straightforward in your face with more rap rock tones. On this EP, that atmosphere has left the budding it seems and the focal point is more rocking and melody induced masterpieces. Track one the lead off radio single A MANNEQUIN IDOL (LULLABY) targets the metal elements but it has so so so so much more depth and layers to it. Joe's singing voice is more prominent. But these motherfucking hooky moments are anthemic. EYES SEWN SHUT is my favorite right now. It reminded me of something Stone Sour would do. The beginning of this song with Joes elegant and soft singing voice gave me pure goose bumps, just like the first time I heard BEAUTIFUL. He sounds so fucking phenomal and i'm so stoked he is showing off his singing voice more n more. Then the song surges into the rocking moments we love from these guys. These verses are alluring, impeccable combination of adrenaline, melodic energy forcible magic! I am so overly impressed how they have managed to evolve in such a high class fashion but still staying close to the sound and passion they started out with. Lyrically both songs still spew the reality and raw feelings of todays impactful elements of the world we live. I can only imagine the diversity that is still to come when DED drops the full sophomore album. For now MANNEQUIN EYES is out and has unbelievably impressed the world already. DED. Chapter 2.. the world.. are you ready? Because these boys I declare are on the verge of changing the rock/metal culture.
ALICE SWEET ALICE - Circus Maxium - The Modern Bloodshedding
By: Samantha Coomer Alice Sweet Alice, This band is here to have a good time. The music..... From each drum beat to the guitar licks it was all intertwined together to create this spectacular album. As a new listener I had no expectations. The first song made me alert like wow ok Alice got it going on. So on to the rest of the songs I went. I enjoyed each song. All the lyrics hit home. "Catfish" was funny and probably my favorite. They even have a song with no lyrics that had me moving. The sound is clean and crisp. The last song is "Time Machine" and I'm not sure if that's meant to be like that because the whole album took me thru a time machine. It was the perfect description for the album. It started with some disco rock then grooved into some The Doors feel music and brought it back up to some 80s pop rock sound. It was fun to bop around and rock at the same time to some sick lyrics. ANOTHER DAY DAWNS - EP Stranger, due out 1.31.20 My first reaction: Wow! Where have I been? Listening to each drop, the lyrics and guitar riffs made me want to listen again. Another Day Dawns is a new band to me. I had never heard of them prior to listening to the new songs. They are from Pittsburgh and started in 2010. After listening to the songs the second time I was able to enjoy the music as well the lyrics. I really enjoyed the lyrics; little bit of cursing and a lot of real life feelings. Each song had its own sound not one was alike. I thought it was like a hard Buckcherry, but not. They have an original sound. It also didn't it feel geared towards one person or one sex. Felt like a guy or a girl would enjoy the lyrics or could relate. "Never Okay" stood out the most because hard rock gets the perception of billy badass and that song showed a different side. The lyrics are strong. People hold so much in and this song lets it out. I am now looking forward to seeing a live show to get the full effect. Each song you can tell the band members are having fun. Actually enjoying what they are doing and it comes out in the music. |
