Up and coming Chicago-based post-hardcore band AMERICAN SLANG will release their debut album, Death Drive, on Friday, May 22
“Musically, we wanted to make something that brought together all of the parts of the hardcore, punk, metal and classic rock we all love,” says guitarist Tyler Grier. “Something that was aggressive and engaging, but at the same time, you could still sing along.” Check out the video for the album album’s opening track, “Holy Roller,” a creative and playful take on B-movies produced by Chicago production company Third Beacon at https://youtu.be/heXpyvDy5JI. “We couldn’t be happier that Third Beacon was able to mix in the B-horror and Rubber Monster movies we all grew up watching to create something that fits the song and band so well,” says vocalist Adam Bevel. “The song was written to be something fun that had a little undercurrent of menace, and they captured that perfectly.” Death Drive was produced by Chris Galvez (Phineas, Ghost Key) and mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, Against Me!, Dillinger Escape Plan). Death Drive is available for pre-order at the band’s website at https://amrcnslng.com/merch/deathdrive. Death Drive track listing: 1-Holy Roller 2-The Old Razzle Dazzle 3-Julius Seizure 4-There’s Always A Faster Gun 5- Was Born A Snake Handler and I’ll Die A Snake Handler 6-Mission Accomplished 7-Sacrifice Zone 8-The Best Damn Pet Shop in Town 9-Self-Inflicted AMERICAN SLANG was formed in 2018 with the intention of combining their varied influences, including hardcore, punk, metal and straight up rock ‘n’ roll. With a punk rock/hardcore intensity, metal riffs and rock ‘n’ rock roll grooves, AMERICAN SLANG delivers on all parts. The group has honed their live chops playing local hardcore shows and appearing as musical guests at shows presented by a local wrestling promotion, which led to an invitation to perform at The Gathering of the Juggalos last year. Houston, TX Rock Band HOLD ON HOLLYWOOD has released the official music video for their single "Movies." Directed, shot, and edited by Blake Ralston, "Movies" is off of the band's Valentine's Day released EP, Love Stories. "We wrote this song about a time in our lives that’s very dear to us, and probably everyone. When everything was exciting & you and your friends had that new found freedom, one of y’all just started driving or something. You had that person you were crushing on, and you all just wanted to go out and have fun, every time hoping you’d run in to that one person wherever you all went, or building up the courage to ask them out. It’s funny now to see this video come out at a time like this. It’s a song about going out and being with friends, youthful nostalgia, and we’re all locked in our homes right now on quarantine. The irony sure is funny, but we hope this gives you something to enjoy and remember those good times, while looking forward to more to come. We got to step into what we consider a “big studio” for the first time as a band for this EP, and had Matt Noveskey of Blue October at the helm producing. Along with Matt Meli (engineer/mixing), they really helped to bring the “Love Stories” to life for us at Orb Studios in Austin, TX. We wanted the video to feel just as “larger than life” as that recording experience did for us!" - NICK DEES (Lead Guitarist) “Movies” is one of those songs that you know is destined for great things on the very first listen. No pretentious BS, no filler. And the hooks and melodies are irresistible. The video is the perfect visual complement to the song. To me it’s the classic tale of freedom, camaraderie and the human connection. Watching a video like this reminds you that life is supposed to be FUN. Producing the song and being a part of the journey with the guys is a complete honor. The world needs content like this more than ever." - MATT NOVESKEY (Producer / Bassist of Blue October) HOLD ON HOLLYWOOD is a rock band based out of Houston, TX. The music video for the lead single “Movies” was released on April 15, 2020 April 27, 2020 - Platinum selling International recording artists STATIC-X have filed police report with the LAPD, siting that their warehouse space (which is also shared with the band Dope) was recently robbed of nearly 200K worth of touring equipment during the Corona Virus Lockdown. The two bands were advised to take the story public, in order to help raise awareness with other small business owners and bands alike. “With most of us in lock down, and those who aren’t locked down, wearing masks in public, apparently it’s a great time to be a thief”, says Static-X drummer Ken Jay. The band has released a statement on the robbery: “We want to encourage our community to keep a close eye on your property and on your facilities during this unprecedented time… We also ask for our fans to keep an eye out for the stolen items and maybe we can help the police find these people." The band has publicized a list of stolen equipment, complete with many of the serial numbers. The list includes: Multiple LED video panels, 2 drum kits, 40+ cymbals, various high end audio/video gear, microphones, racks, branded backdrops, etc. They have also set up a tip center where you can share any info that may help in the investigation. “This is tough one to swallow ” says Edsel Dope. “Our bands are small businesses that have developed and refined our touring systems over years. The amount of time and effort that has gone into building out the tech and AV production alone is hard to quantify. It’s allot of money. We own all of our own gear and have built our touring business through years of continuous investment back into ourselves. “In the end, we recognize that there are far worse things happening around the world. We want to send out positive vibes to everyone in this crazy time. Stay safe, protect yourself from ALL the threats, and take care of each other. We will learn from this experience and take the necessary steps to rebuild during this down time, while allowing ourselves to be a cautionary tale for others. Stay safe and see you soon!" - Static-X & Dope BY STEPHANIE STEVENS I was introduced to CAGE9 in 2017 when the album ILLUMINATOR came out and they quickly became one of my favorite bands. As I shifted backwards into their arsenal of music I realized this band is probably one of the most underrated bands. The music is emotive, catchy, diverse and powerful. In 2019 the guys topped everything in their discography when HYPESTHESIA got released. This album was perfection from start to finish in my opinion. You heard the growth of the writing, the music had more depth and powerful messages. Evan Rodaniche is a mastermind from songwriting, behind the scenes technicality and his visual driving concepts. All that was emerged and thrown back into our lives with the bands latest single and lyric video release of D.O.A.. A monster of a tune with a poignant tale to tell about Narcissistic personalities. I had the extreme pleasure to chat with Evan about the song, finding a true passion and the future of the brilliant band CAGE9. Q: D.O.A. newest single is out. The song deals with a topic about Narcissistic personalities what was it about this topic that empowered you to write a song about it? A: There have been a few people traveling in my orbit over the past year that have inspired me to comment on this topic…I will leave it at that! Q: When I looked up Narcissistic disorders a article saying its found more commonly in men. Do you have a opinion on that? A: Well Narcissus was a man of course…but I think in the myth, the pond in which he spent so much time looking at himself apparently had also been enjoying looking at itself reflected back in his eyes. So it’s probably a pretty universal thing - although I won’t make apologies for douchey men haha. Q: Also the word character was used to talk about the storyline in this song. Is CAGE9 coming up with a full concept album? A: I hadn’t thought of making a full album just yet although I do have a big bag full of ideas at the moment. I like where you’re going with this tho:-) Q: A lyric video is linked to the new single as well. Who put that together and do you find lyric videos help your fans relate to you as the artist more? A: I had planned to shoot a full video to release with this single with an actress to play the main character, a location and everything. I do most of our videos myself tho and it is a lot of work (I also do all our recording and mixing) - and I kinda’ ran out of motivation to go through with it. Then the virus hit and it was history anyway. The quarantine gave me time to really tweak the song and since I was excited about putting it out I decided a lyric video was better than nothing and yes, I think it’s a great way to pull people into the meaning of the track. My friend Jose Vergara (in Colombia), who also has a band I produce called Frankie Jazz, did the graphics and cover - that’s my distressed looking hand haha. I did the lyric effect. Q: Seeing so many bands releasing singles these days. Do you feel in this day and age its the way to go? And why? A: One could argue that people’s attention spans are shortening. Plus you can always release the singles later as part of a full album and then you can keep giving fans something every few months instead of one album every few years. Q: CAGE9 has been a band since 1993 and you have been the founder. Being able to have a platform to not only get your stories out but to help others in the process how does that make you feel? A: I’m incredibly grateful that people can enjoy my music! Sometimes I create music on autopilot…I don’t really have a goal other than to create. There’s ups and downs where I’m not sure WHY I’m spending my time making music. But really it’s just a goal in life to look forward to - the finishing of a song or album or video. It’s nice to have that excitement. Even if it doesn’t mean fame and fortune. I really can’t imagine doing anything else - so here I am! Q: What does the future look like for CAGE9? Any plans being drawn up once this pandemic is subsided? A: The only plans at the moment are to keep writing and recording music. I’d love to play shows again but I guess it’s not something we can even think about in the near future - the way things are looking. Q: If you had to put one of your songs in a time capsule which one would you put and why? A: Maybe “Dead Letter,” from our album “El Motivo.” It really defined that time in my life and there’s just something genuinely haunting in the lyrics and melody. Very real. Q: What is the most important thing about music/art that can help people in your opinion? A: Think about how art - music, movies, stories - improve our lives! The tapping of the creative mind is what gives us scientific discoveries, the will to cross unknown oceans, space etc… It’s what makes us human - and definitely does not get enough credit. Plus, it’s a skill that’s literally available to anyone who looks for it. Q: What do you hope people will remember most about ur art/music? A: Jeez - I don’t know. I hope people enjoy my music and it improves their life in that moment. I don’t really care if I’m remembered in the end. No one really is if you think about it. We’re all just passing through. Q: If you could give people struggling with finding a passion they love to do, what advice would you tell them? A: Remember your biggest enemy is your own mind. It wants to second guess everything you do and compare it to every other great thing that’s ever been done. That’s an impossible game to win. Add social media to the equation and it’s even harder…because you can instantly SEE all the great things everyone else is doing - and wow, you really suck. So above all else - you need to just put one foot in front of the other and MAKE something and don’t JUDGE it immediately. Do you like the direction you’re going? Yes? Great, keep going. No? Fine, stop. Start again. Pretend no one cares. Mostly they don’t. Do whatever it takes to make you feel good about it. Need to steal an idea from someone else just to get you to the next step? Do it. All great artists steal a little bit and make it there own. It’s how we advance. It can also be called learning. We learn from our teachers like we learn from other artists. Use it. Twist it. Change it. There are no rules. And almost without fail, there will be a point that you think what you’re doing is horrible…especially if you’ve worked on it for awhile. The novelty wears off and it’s not exciting to you anymore. That’s where you have to make an effort to remind yourself that in the beginning, you thought it was great. So if you’ve come this far - there must be magic in there somewhere - so you learn to try to step back and do the work while keeping a subliminal connection going to the soul without letting your brain ruin it. Takes a little practice. Ok. I have gone in circles but I hope that makes sense! Q: Empower another artist by telling us someone u admire and why you admire them? A: This might come out of left field but I really admire Devendra Banhart and love his music. It’s so weird and moody - it really sounds like someone who just gets in a room with a bunch of musicians and makes whatever feels right at the moment. A really true artist. I aspire to get to that point…where you leave the mind on the sidelines and just channel what’s in your soul as unobstructed and directly as possible. That’s where the magic is. BY STEPHANIE STEVENS MOTIVE BLACK is a female fronted band based out of Los Angeles. The band released BROKEN the platform single for a debut EP coming out later this year. This single and video totally awed me because her words in this song resonated with me fully. Vocalist, Elana Justin captured everything I have felt in the past year in this song. With this kind of real emotion I had for the song, it made me think she will probably make people feel that they arent the only ones feeling this way. The song has great melodic structure, chorus is catchy as hell. It shows the layers and levels of her voice and in the video she looks like a major kick ass chic. MOTIVE BLACK is ready to showcase great rock tunes that are inspired by lifes tragedies and the strength and fortitude to move past them. I cant wait to hear more but until then get to know Elana Justin a little more and her band MOTIVE BLACK Q: Tell me about your band and describe your music to people who have never heard you? A: We are a Hard Rock / Alt. Metal band based out of Los Angeles. The music is heavy hitting, with emotive vocals. Our single “Broken” that just came out features Ray Luzier of Korn on Drums, and Marcos Curiel of P.O.D. on Guitar. 🎼 Q: Your new single “BROKEN” is a song about you moving to the west coast and starting over - How did you adapt to Los Angeles and what is your proudest moment of this track? A: ‘Broken” is about risking it all in order to live life to its fullest. It about throwing safe choices away and making bold decisions. Adapting to Los Angeles was slow at first…. But eventually I found a community of musicians that made the transition much easier. I’m proud of the track as whole, I hope people relate to it! 🎼 Q: Being a woman and having a platform like you have - what is one thing you can tell other women or people in general about confidence and empowering yourself in the world today? A: Nobody is going to believe in you if don’t believe in yourself - that really helps me a lot. Whenever I feel my confidence waver I circle back to that, in order to get back on track. 🎼 Q: How did you become a musician and what has been your biggest accomplishment thus far? A: Growing up my dad had a night club in Manhattan. Once a week they had a singer/songwriter night. I was really inspired by those musicians, and old movie musicals from a really young age. The EP that I will be releasing later this year is definitely my biggest accomplishment thus far. I’m very proud of all the work that’s gone into it. 🎼 Q: Any current or hopeful future plans for your band and how people can keep up to date with you? A: We are hoping to get on the road as soon as we can. You can find links to all of our socials and upcoming tour dates at www.motiveblack.com . You can also follow and stream us on Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and Youtube. 🎼 Q: What is the most important thing about music that can help people in a time of crisis, in your opinion? A: I think music can be an escape for people in times of crises. It also unites people and makes them feel less alone in times of isolation, which we need now more than ever. 🎼 Q: If you could give people struggling with finding a passion they love to do, what advice woud you tell them? A: Keep exploring, and trying new things. There’s no time limit - so don’t get discouraged – keep moving forward! 🎼 Q: Empower another artist by telling us someone you admire and why you admire them. A: I really look up to and admire Joan Jett. She rewrote the rules and wrote kick ass songs that have helped shape me as an artist. Where now-classic LAMB OF GOD slabs As the Palaces Burn (2003) and Ashes of the Wake (2004) zoomed in on specific issues, Lamb Of God (2020) takes a broader view, calling attention to and laying out an argument against intolerance, apathy and injustice, both in the United States and abroad. The album tackles a broad range of issues, including the opioid crisis (“On the Hook"), school shootings (“Reality Bath”), and vocalist/lyricist D. Randall Blythe’s time protesting alongside native peoples at Standing Rock (“Routes”). “New Colossal Hate,” which hits all digital and streaming services as a single and lyric video today – watch now at www.lamb-of-god.com - digs into the exploitative rhetoric and persistent “othering” of marginalized people that continues to divide. Guitarist Willie Adler speaking on the composition of the song: “'New Colossal Hate' came out of our very first writing session in Maine. Mark, our producer Josh Wilbur and I were at a super cool studio in South Windham called Halo. An absolutely beautiful spot run by some of the best people I've ever met. I'm pretty sure 'New Colossal Hate' grew from a few different demos I had. You know, like parts of car. However, as it started to take shape, it quickly became my favorite song on the record. Please enjoy this banger of a tune. It holds a very special place in my heart." “New Colossal Hate” follows the official music video for “Memento Mori,” which has been viewed more than 3.5 million times since its late March debut. Executed from a narrative treatment written by Blythe, “Memento Mori” features a blistering performance from guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell, drummer Art Cruz, and Blythe, juxtaposed against a grim storyline costarring Sinisteria, a dark performance troupe led by fellow Richmond, Virginia, natives Sabrina Elliotte and Gwooki. Audiences got a taste of the first new LAMB OF GOD music in nearly five years with “Checkmate” back in February. All three songs will appear on Lamb Of God, the follow-up to VII: Sturm und Drang (2015). The album was once again produced by collaborator Josh Wilbur (Gojira, Korn, Megadeth, Trivium), fueled by a mountain of riffs and looming rhythmic shadows. It’s also the band’s first record with Cruz, who sat behind the kit with LAMB OF GOD in 2018 and became an official member the following year. LAMB OF GOD propelled heavy metal into the new millennium two decades ago with the prophetically titled New American Gospel. They followed with 2003’s As the Palaces Burn, which made the Rolling Stone list of the Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Ashes of the Wake (2004) was the first LAMB OF GOD album to be certified gold by the RIAA, followed by Sacrament (2006), which debuted in Billboard’s Top 10. Wrath (2009) earned the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hard Rock, Rock, and Tastemaker charts and was No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Those No. 1 positions were repeated with Resolution (2012). VII: Sturm und Drang (2015) debuted at No. 3 in North America and in the Top 5 in several countries. The single “512” from VII: Sturm und Drang received a Grammy nod for the “Best Metal Performance,” making it LAMB OF GOD’s fifth Grammy nomination. The new album features guest appearances from Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) and Chuck Billy (Testament). Blythe sounds more driven and insightful than ever on Lamb Of God, offering up the angriest and most comprehensive diatribes, addressing modern life in the current landscape, of his storied career thus far. The first taste comes today with the bold new track “Alert Level” accompanied by a provocative lyric video, created by Agent Ogden.
The song is the first new material from Jourgensen in two years and has a timely message as America—and the global population—faces epidemics, environmental crises, political corruption and one of the biggest elections of our lifetime. Regarding “Alert Level,” Jourgensen says, “We finished the song in January and it sounded great during rehearsals for our Australia/Japan tour dates, before we went into quarantine. The original plan was to finish the new record before the July ‘Industrial Strength’ US tour so we could have an Election Day release, but in lieu of the circumstances—and how relevant the song feels for these bizarre times—we decided to release ‘Alert Level’ now. Considering that this song features the question ‘How concerned are you?’ I’ll be interested to see how folks answer it themselves.” Hear Jourgensen discuss more about “Alert Level” on Bill Burr’s latest episode of his “Monday Morning Podcast”: https://billburr.com/monday-morning-podcast-4-20-20/ With the release of “Alert Level,” fans are asked to be a part of the larger conversation by answering the question posed by the song’s central message, “How concerned are you?” Fans should upload videos, 30 seconds or less, to their social media profiles with the hashtag #MinistryAlertLevel. All the members of Ministry will be watching from home and selecting the videos most meaningful to them, which will be later shared. Ministry also encourages fans to voice their concerns by voting in the upcoming 2020 elections and has partnered with Head Count to help voters to become registered in time. More info can be found here: http://ministryband.com/vote “Alert Level” will be included on Ministry’s upcoming 15th full-length release and the follow-up to the acclaimed 2018 record, “AmeriKKKant,” which was a return to form for the industrial juggernaut and garnered international tour dates, a collaboration with Wax Trax! and a support slot on Slayer’s final tour. In its early days, Ministry was identifiable by its heavy synth-pop material in line with the new sounds and technology that were being developed in the ‘80s. Ministry’s output began with four 12” singles on Wax Trax! Records in 1981 before the first LP With Sympathy in 1983 via Arista Records. As time progressed however, so did Ministry, quickly developing a harsher, and more stylized sound that the band soon became infamous for on seminal albums Twitch (1986), The Land of Rape and Honey (1988), and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste (1989). With the release of Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and The Way to Suck Eggs (1992), Ministry hit an all time high in the mainstream musical realm and received its first Grammy nomination. In total, Ministry has been nominated for a Grammy award six times. After an indefinite hiatus in 2013, Ministry’s latest album, 2018’s AmeriKKKant, continues to reflect Jourgensen’s views on the frightening state of society and politics. With the latest lineup featuring Sin Quirin and Cesar Soto on guitars, John Bechdel (Killing Joke) on keys, London May (Samhain) on drums and Paul D’Amour (Tool) on bass, Ministry continues touring and recording in 2020 with new music and a few more surprises planned. "Making sense of loss is not an easy task," says the band's namesake guitarist. "Sometimes, it's just impossible. Songwriting has always been my way of tumbling through the feelings I struggle to make sense of. 'Out There' has taken on different meanings for me personally over time. Given the current circumstances, this song feels heavier to me than it ever has. I can only imagine what so many people are dealing with right now. There was a lot of love put into this song and I hope every bit of that is transferred and felt by anyone out there who needs it right now." The track appears on the band's latest album Truth & Lies — out now via Snakefarm Records. ICYMI: Listen to "Shock & Awe," a gritty riff fest anchored by bluesy vocals, here. These Alt. Rockers consist of Michael Rubin-lead guitar, vocals and James Terranova on drums and are hitting the airwaves hard with newest single SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE. A track that will lift your spirits and get your feet a tapping! Just think Black Keys meet Cage The Elephant with a touch of Tame Impala. But KING FALCON oozes with impeccable tones of their own, from funk styles and laid back swagger these guys are a blessing for your ears and souls. I got the chance to chat with Michael more about the band and new single. Check it out below! Q: Tell us how your band got together and what genre do you feel you fit best in? A: James and I actually started another band called 'The Inoculated Canaries”. The Canaries have been around for almost a decade now, and I think James and I wanted a new identity to make music with. We’re still making Canaries music, but now we're also making King Falcon music. And the two bands are completely different, The Canaries are really a vintage sounding rock band and King Falcon is definitely modern, Alternative rock. 🎼 Q: How did you become a musician and what is your instrument of choice? A: No joke, my mom told me if I spent as much time playing the real guitar as I did Guitar Hero I might actually be good at it. That was back in 2009 or so, and I’ve been playing guitar ever since! 🎼 Q: Your new song “SHAKE! SHAKE! SHAKE!” was written pretty much off the cuff. How was that way of songwriting? And what was your proudest moment when you heard the finished product? A: I think I can speak for both James and myself when I say that getting the mixes back for the first time is the most exciting part of the songwriting process. You're thinking “Finally after all this work I get to actually hear the song”. There is also a little bit of nerves, because this is the first time you really listen to your own music as a consumer and it’s often completely different than you thought it would be. And yeah, "Shake!" was written at the very last minute. That’s just how I like to do things. It has driven James crazy for years now and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. 🎼 Q: Any current or hopeful future plans for your band and how people can keep up to date with you? A: We want to just keep growing, releasing new music and getting back to playing live – once we and our fans can do so safely. You can keep up with us on our socials (see below) – we're really active on their and love connecting with fans. Our main ones are Instagram and TikTok – we actually have a "Shake! Shake! Shake!" dance challenge going on right now. 🎼 Q: What is the most important thing about music/art that can help people in your opinion? A: Especially in the time of covid-19, it's just something to take your mind off of the world for a minute. I think everybody is going through a hard time right now in their own way and anything we can do to alleviate some of that stress is helpful. 🎼 Q: What do you hope people will remember most about your music? A: As a guitarist, it would be an extreme honor to have people remember how the guitar solos go. That’s the sign of a good one. You’d be hard pressed to find someone who can’t sing every note Brian May plays in Bohemian Rhapsody. 🎼 Q: If you could give people struggling with finding a passion – something they love to do…. What advice would you tell them? A: Your passion doesn’t have to be creative necessarily - it can be absolutely anything. I think it’s helpful to take a step back and look at the things in your life that bring you joy and focus on those things. For me, I’m very passionate about music and I’ve always been very passionate about cars. I try to do at least one thing every day to satisfy each of those interests. We’ve all got a very limited time on this planet and we should use that time to do stuff we enjoy! 🎼 Q: Empower another artist by telling us someone u admire and why you admire them. A: I’ve got a lot of artists I admire. One is Tyler the Creator. I think no artist today is involved in as much stuff as he is. The brand that he has created for himself is both unique and consistent and that's not an easy thing to accomplish. I’m also a huge Tame Impala fan. I think Kevin Parker is a borderline genius. The band delivers a ultimate treat in the newest single CASANOVA. It oozes with high octane Rock n Roll confidence, bitching guitar riffs and a vocalist showcasing raw and soaring vocal appeal. The guys Cody Jasper-vocals, Mitch Micoley – Guitar, Joe Perez - Guitar Gabe Maska - Bass, Greg Garcia - Drums are the real deal for bringing back the delight and good times of what rock music is! MOON FEVER is ready to assault the world with the bands multi-hyphen defintion of how rock n roll should be! Get to know Cody and Mitch a little more! Q: I heard you guys connected together online before you met in person – is that true? How easy was that to do and believe a band could come together from it once you met in person? A: Cody: I got a Facebook message from Mitch’s old manager Erika - she saw me playing in Austin in 2012 and when they were looking for a new singer for Moon Fever somehow she thought of me. They sent me the songs and I started writing some words and melodies to them. They flew me out to Los Angeles for an audition and it was a very easy from that point on - it was like we have been playing music together for years 🤟 . Mitch creates a bed of Guitar melodies that matches exactly the way I like to sing. Q: What genre - if you had to be labeled - would you want to be labeled as? A: Mitch: We are high energy Rock N’ Roll! Q: How did you become a musician and what is your instrument of choice? A: Cody: Currently my voice is my favorite instrument - Thanks to Moon Fever! A: Mitch: I'm a guitarist, and when I was a kid I used to play piano and trumpet… But I thought playing guitar would be a cooler life style choice. I originally started taking lessons from a local blues musician on a super cheap $75.00 Jay Turser electric guitar, and things developed from there. Q: “CASANOVA” has so much energy and has hints of classic rock with modern twists. What inspired this track? A: Mitch: I wrote the riff in my old studio mid-summer of last year in Downtown LA. I think it reflects that Los Angeles, partying in the summer vibe. A: Cody: Mitch had that riff and we were just sitting in our studio - working on songs like we usually do. It flowed naturally from there and the whole song came together. Q: Is songwriting an easy task for you guys as a whole? A: Cody: Yes - there’s some magic there between us - it kind of just happens, almost too easily. A: Mitch: Its super organic. Cody and I really feed off each other when it comes to songs! We wrote and recorded our first ten songs in a month and a half - it really was a fun, creative process. Q: Any current or hopeful future plans for your band and how people can keep up to date with you? A: Mitch: After we are allowed to get back out there, we are planning on doing a few shows where we can. We are going to be releasing singles throughout the year. We also have a "social distancing" based music video that’s starting to look amazing, that should be out in another month or so. Our links are below – you can follow us on all social platforms and streaming sites. Q: What is the most important thing about music that can help people, especially during times of crisis - in your opinion? A: Cody: It’s an escape, a way for folks to forget their troubles for a bit. A: Mitch: I think it gives people an escape from the monotonous day to day life, and especially now with everyone being in lockdown. 🎼 Q: What do you hope people will remember most about your music? A: Cody: Whatever it is that touched them… Whatever it is that made them nod their head, or sing along. A: Mitch: Catchy, hypnotic riffs, with soaring vocals….. Peppered in with some banging guitar solos. 👊 Q: If you could give people struggling with finding a passion they love to do, what advice would you tell them? A: Cody: Keep on chopping - that tree will fall! A: Mitch: Just keep doing it until something pops for you. Typically when I come up with a song idea or something creative it's just falls out of the sky when I'm not looking, it’s just there. Just be open to it and make sure to keep your voice memos handy! Q: Empower another artist by telling us someone you admire and why you admire them. A: Cody: Paul Val – a young musician out of Austin, Texas. He is the “real deal” - an incredible Rock N’ Roll guitar player and a great guy. I definitely see him becoming a heavy hitter. A: Mitch: I admire any artist trying to keep creating and growing during this strange time. It's not an easy thing to do right now, So hats off to ya!
